FMSi Presents AFDD System at ADNOC Road Safety Campaign

FMSi Presents AFDD System at ADNOC Road Safety Campaign

Abu Dhabi, UAE

FMSi took part in ADNOC’s Road Safety Campaign on 15 September at Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex (SKEC). The event was a technology showcase organized to raise road safety awareness across ADNOC’s teams, bringing together technology providers whose systems support safer driving.

Hands-on demonstration of AFDD

FMSi’s stand featured the AFDD (Advanced Fatigue and Distraction Detection) simulator. Attendees used it to see how the system identifies fatigue and distraction events in real time.

AFDD uses an in-cab camera and AI-based analysis to monitor driver behavior. It detects indicators such as eye closure, yawning, and loss of attention to the road. When an event is detected, the system alerts the driver in the cab immediately, and the event data is recorded so that fleet managers can review it afterwards. Showing this sequence on a simulator let attendees follow it from detection, to alert, to data record, without needing a live vehicle.

IVMS as part of a wider fleet safety strategy

FMSi representatives also discussed In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems (IVMS) and their role in driver safety management. IVMS records driving behavior such as speed, harsh braking, harsh acceleration, and cornering, and reports it to fleet managers. AFDD adds a different layer: it addresses driver state, not only vehicle behavior. Used together, the two systems give operators data on both how a vehicle is driven and the condition of the person driving it.

Why detection matters

Fatigue and distraction remain leading contributors to road incidents in the region. For fleet operators, the practical questions are what a detection system identifies, how quickly the driver is alerted, and what data is available to the safety team afterwards. Demonstrations like this one answer those questions directly and show how the technology works in operation.

Continued work with ADNOC contractors

FMSi continues to work with ADNOC contractors on IVMS and AFDD deployment as ADNOC compliance timelines progress. Contractors with questions about system requirements, installation, or reporting can contact the FMSi team.

FMSi thanks ADNOC for the invitation and for organizing the event.
